About Us
1963 was the year I was born into a family of nine children, six boys and three girls. My father died in 1966, so my mom made a concerted effort to teach my siblings and I basic cooking skills. I was obsessed with cooking at a very early age, much to my mother's dissatisfaction, because of my incredible messes.
I was seventeen when I became an assistant chef at a local restaurant, and it was at this establishment where I mastered many cooking skills. It wasn't until 1980 that I began to specialize in sauces, specifically salsas. One of my co-workers was from Mexico, and his name was Mario. One day he asked me if I wanted to try some of his salsa he had made. I enjoyed eating store bought salsa before this, but I must say I was blown away with the taste of my amigo's uncooked, fresh salsa. His salsa consisted of tomatoes, tomatillos, cilantro, garlic, Jalapeños, limejuice, salt and sugar. The flavor was so rewarding it started a new chapter in my life, the fresh salsa chapter. I started making salsa every chance I had, trying to replicate the delicious concoction my co-worker had shared with me.
Approximately one year later I was not only making many different kinds of fresh salsa, I was writing down the recipes that I originated intuitively, in a notebook.Friends and family over the next twenty years tried to inspire me to start a food company to market my recipes, but I always had reasons as to why it wasn't a feasible idea. 1999, was the year I decided to market my recipes in a book. I published my recipes in my own book, "I Never Met A Salsa I Didn't Like!" I sold all the books I printed within a year by letting people actually try the recipes that were in the book. The response was very exciting and rewarding. I published a second printing about a year later with the same recipes but with different graphics and over $600.00 in local restaurant gift certificates. I also decided to give a free jar of salsa away with each book sold, and fund raising with public and private schools, churches, and other organizations, were the main avenues for selling my book.
We have accomplished our third printing of our salsa book and decided to add a chapter with the recipes for Aztec Creations original food products, like Smoked Habanero Olive and Vegetable oil, Pickled Chipotle Peppers, and Chipotle, Onion, Carrot Relish. Six years later, after selling tens of thousands of jars of food products we have closed our food company only to focus on publishing the unique recipes from Aztec Creations. I would have never have started the food business if it wasn’t for the creation of Smoked Habanero Olive and Vegetable oil, and the Pickled Chipotle Peppers and Relish. The oil and peppers are truly 100% new, original, incredible tasting food products and their recipes are found no where in the world except on this website. Our original food products came to the market only because I shared one of my creations, some of my Smoked Habanero olive oil, with one my friends who is a chef, and owner of several restaurants. He called me the next day only to tell me that I needed to share this oil with the entire world, because it was the best tasting oil he had ever used. His inspiration and excitement motivated me to market my Smoked Habanero oil, my salsas, pickled Chipotle peppers, Chipotle relish, and Habanero popcorn. The product line Aztec Creations was given this name because the Habanero pepper originated in the Yucatan Peninsula where the Aztec Indians were also from. All of my recipes and product creations are truly original and guaranteed to be some of the best food products you've ever consumed. These original recipes are now available in the third edition of, “I Never Met A Salsa I Didn’t Like!” This third edition is only available three different ways: 1) School and church fundraising groups, 2) State fairs, and 3) Azteccreations.net.
